Integrative Coaching Approach:

Julia believes in an integrative, embodied approach to run coaching. Her focus extends beyond physical training, encompassing mental and emotional well-being. Running is not just a sport but also a holistic experience that impacts your entire being. We’re constantly inundated by social media and other external sources with messages telling us the “right” way to be a runner. Julia’s approach invites individuals to deconstruct, reimagine and reclaim what it means to be a runner by working with the runner’s unique needs. Every body is different, and runners come in all shapes and sizes! By taking an embodied approach to running, Julia helps runners to establish a sustainable and fulfilling running practice, regardless of where you are currently at. 

Customized Running Plans:

Every runner is unique, which is why we provide personalized running plans tailored to your specific goals and needs. Whether you're a beginner aiming to improve your running form, increase your mileage, or develop a healthy mindset around running, or an experienced runner seeking to enhance speed, strength, or endurance, your program will be customized to help you achieve your desired outcomes.


Comprehensive Assessment and Goal Setting:

We begin the program with an initial meeting and assessment session. This allows us to understand your current fitness level, running history, and aspirations. Through detailed discussions, we collaboratively set achievable goals that align with your desires and capabilities. We consider your individual constraints, such as time availability and lifestyle, to ensure a plan that fits seamlessly into your life.

Cross-Training Plans:

Our program recognizes the importance of cross-training in improving overall performance and reducing the risk of injuries. We provide comprehensive cross-training plans that complement your running routine. These plans may include strength training exercises, flexibility work, and other activities tailored to your specific needs.

Small Group Strength for Runners Class:

As part of our program, you'll have access to a monthly small group strength training class designed exclusively for runners. This class aims to improve your strength, stability, and overall athleticism, enhancing your running performance and preventing common injuries. It also offers an opportunity to connect with fellow runners, share experiences, and build a supportive community.

Embodied Approach Biweekly Meetings:

We go beyond the conventional coaching model by incorporating an embodied approach into our biweekly meetings. These sessions are dedicated to deepening your connection with your body and nurturing a mindful running practice. By learning to tune in to your body's signals and needs, you'll develop a sustainable running routine that is true to you.

Meet your Run Coach:


Julia Carter is a Health at Every Size(TM)-informed run coach and fitness instructor who firmly believes that movement is for every body. Originally from New York, she made the move to North Carolina for the weather, but stayed for the community. 

With an ever-evolving relationship with movement, Julia's journey has deeply influenced her passion for fat liberation and the anti-diet movement. This journey has not only improved her mental wellness but has also allowed her to build a vibrant community and foster healthy expressions of joy. As a run coach and fitness instructor, Julia's mission is to help others discover a more embodied and intuitive approach to movement that prioritizes sustainability and joy.

Julia is an RRCA-Certified Level I run coach, a Size-Inclusive Fitness Specialist through SITA and ACE, and is currently pursuing her NASM Personal Trainer certification. She is entering her specialist year in the UNCG/A&T's Joint Masters in Social Work program this fall, with a focus on pursuing a career in mental health that prioritizes body-oriented approaches to healing.
