Christina Cobb

Christina Cobb is a passionate wellness instructor whose teaching style merges the grace of ballet with the infectious rhythms of Afrobeat music. As a mixed-race woman, Christina believes that dance is a powerful tool for self-expression, cultural exploration, and identity. Her unique approach combines the flowing discipline of ballet with the dynamic, soulful beats of Afrobeat, creating a space for her students to embrace both their physical and emotional selves.
Christina’s journey in dance began at just 3 years old when her grandma enrolled her in her first ballet class. From that moment forward, movement became a fundamental element of Christina’s expression and a key avenue for self-regulation. She trained for 14 years with the Carmel Academy of Performing Arts, studying ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and performing in theatrical productions. Christina then went on to enjoy dancing and choreographing for Colby College’s dance team, Hipnotik, deepening her love for the art.
While dance has been a main source of expression for Christina, it has also been a source of pain due to the hyperfixation on body and form that traditional ballet instruction can sometimes perpetuate. Through her own journey, Christina has worked to reclaim dance as a practice of freedom rather than restriction, blending the disciplined beauty of ballet with the liberating energy of Afrobeat to create an inclusive space for all dancers.
Christina deeply appreciates the sacrifices her family made to put her through dance, yet she’s always found it frustrating how much of a paywall “dance” can sit behind. She firmly believes that everyone is a dancer—no matter their range of motion, ability, body shape, or the extra change in their pocket. Her classes are designed to be welcoming and accessible, encouraging individuals of all backgrounds to explore their own body movement without judgment or a financial barrier. Through her teaching, Christina invites individuals to experience dance as a form of storytelling—a way to reclaim one's identity, honor heritage, and discover new layers of strength and confidence. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced dancer, her classes offer a joyful, inclusive space for personal growth and connection to a rich cultural tapestry.
