Julia Carter

Julia Carter is a Health at Every Size™-informed run coach and fitness instructor who firmly believes that movement is for every body. Originally from New York, she moved to North Carolina for the weather but stayed for the community. Her own ever-evolving relationship with movement has deeply influenced her passion for fat liberation and the anti-diet movement, shaping her holistic approach to coaching.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA), RRCA Certified Run Coach, and SITA-Certified Size-Inclusive Movement Specialist, Julia brings a therapeutic and inclusive approach to run coaching and movement instruction. Her practice is grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), trauma-informed care, and anti-diet philosophies, ensuring that her coaching is supportive and welcoming for individuals of all body sizes and fitness levels.
Julia’s mission is to help others discover a more embodied and intuitive approach to movement that prioritizes sustainability and joy. Whether someone is new to running or looking to deepen their relationship with it, Julia creates personalized, sustainable plans that honor each person’s unique needs and experiences. She believes there’s no one way to be a runner and is dedicated to helping clients develop an embodied running practice that fosters awareness, confidence, and joy.
In addition to run coaching, Julia offers movement instruction that emphasizes body awareness, inclusiveness, and a trauma-informed lens, helping individuals build body trust and resilience. Her aim is to provide a space where movement can be explored in a way that is empowering, compassionate, and aligned with each person’s personal journey.
Julia’s comprehensive approach is designed to empower runners of all abilities to achieve their goals while developing a healthy relationship with running. With her monthly coaching program, clients can expect personalized attention, expert guidance, and a supportive community to enhance their running journey.
When not at the Current, Julia can be found walking her dogs, cooking and baking, and pretending every day is Halloween.
