About Brit:
Brit (she/they) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), fitness professional, and co-founder and owner of Current Wellness. She specializes in working with folks who are experiencing anxiety, relationship issues, disordered eating, disordered exercise, and trauma. They use a Health at Every Size® approach, a somatic lens, and the principles of intuitive eating to help clients create a healthy relationship with their body, food, and exercise. They are trained in Embodied Recovery for eating disorders, as well as EMDR and Safe and Sound Protocol for trauma-focused therapy.
She strives to offer a nonjudgemental, compassionate, and collaborative connection for you to explore your life and move towards what matters most to you. They believe that unconditional acceptance and love is critical to wellness, and advocates for social justice for marginalized identities. Your whole identity is not only welcome in their office, but also embraced and celebrated.
In addition to being Licensed Mental Health Counselor, she also has an extensive background in fitness, fitness education, leadership and mentoring. They have a Bachelor's degree is Kinesiology, and they are an ACSM Exercise Physiologist, an Applied Health and Human Performance Specialist through the Institute of Motion, and a Size Inclusive Fitness Specialist through the Size Inclusive Training Academy.
Along her career, she has taught a wide variety of group classes including yoga, pilates, strength training, kickboxing, and indoor cycling. Working as a Fitness Coordinator for NC State University and National Presenter for NETA, they travelled and trained fitness professionals for six years. They created the group fitness classes: Tidal Movement, Tidal Strength, and Tidal Intervals, in order to offer a fitness experience that empowers individuals to listen to their body, while also being inclusive to folks in larger bodies and folks who have disconnected to their body due to toxic fitness culture.
