Maggie Perkins, MS, RD, LDN

Maggie Perkins (she/her) is a Registered Dietitian that helps individuals and families feel confident about nutrition while emphasizing food enjoyment and body respect. As a dietitian, she has assisted people in shaping their health behaviors since 2011. She specializes in weight-inclusive care and family nutrition. Maggie works with clients who have concerns about weight, blood pressure and/or cholesterol and are tired of dieting for weight loss. She also works with parents in family feeding.
Maggie got her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University with a major in Food and Nutrition and a minor in Health Promotion. She attended Tulane University for her dietetic internship. In 2018, Maggie received a Master of Science in Nutrition Science at East Carolina University.
Maggie has had diverse dietetic career and volunteer experiences including working in community, clinical, and corporate nutrition settings. She opened her private practice, Tomata, in 2017 to specialize in family nutrition counseling. Maggie enjoys working with parents because she is interested in the powerful impact family has in food and health. She is also a parent and understands some of the complex needs and challenges of family feeding.
When Maggie is not working, you may find her cooking, feeding, or playing with her family. She also enjoys hula-hooping, dancing, strength-training, reading, hiking, gardening, chicken farming, and relaxing over a good movie. Maggie feels honored to work with her clients on their journey to end chronic dieting and find food freedom. She brings respect and validation to her client’s experiences and has an enthusiastic, compassionate, curious, and non-judgmental demeanor.
