Makayla Harris, LCSWA

Makayla (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate focused on somatic healing and supporting clients on their journey to positive change. She provides a safe and nonjudgmental space for exploration and growth. She specializes in working with adults, young adults, and adolescents (13+) dealing with symptoms of trauma, anxiety, self-esteem struggles, embodiment issues, and disordered eating/exercising. Families are encouraged to participate in family therapy, so long as all parties consent to services.
Makayla brings a compassionate and client-centered approach to therapy for a diverse range of clients- multicultural individuals, families, LGBTQIA+ folks, neurodivergent individuals, and those who identify as larger bodied, fat, or plus size. She enjoys integrating movement into her clinical interventions to support holistic healing. Movement during sessions is optional and based on the client’s needs/abilities. She is aligned with Health at Every Size (TM) principles and uses polyvagal and attachment theory to help clients work collaboratively to cultivate resilience, restore balance, and foster lasting positive change.
In addition to her clinical work, Makayla is in the process of becoming a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist. The intersection between mental and physical wellness is a major interest of hers. She is passionate about helping individuals navigate their unique journeys towards emotional and physical well-being.
Makayla earned her Masters of Social Work in a joint program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
