Jenna Somich: Personal Trainer, Mom, and so much more
We are thrilled to welcome Jenna Somich to the team! She is now offering prenatal and postpartum training both virtually and in-person at our wellness center.
We interviewed her to learn more about her philosophy on wellness through movement.
How does movement support wellness?
I believe that movement is an essential part of life. My goal as a coach and personal trainer is to support the individual in finding a movement practice that not only adds to their overall health and wellness, but inspires them; in the gym setting, in their day-to-day life, and in the world at large!
I love to work with individuals and understand their “WHY.” Sometimes an individual’s “WHY” is “to get up and down off the floor quickly while playing with my child.” Sometimes their “WHY” is to “feel like myself and embody all that I am.” Sometimes individuals do not know their “WHY” yet, but they feel ready to start their journey or discovery. I am honored to be entrusted with this part of your journey, wherever you may be. I believe that movement is a celebration of life, and I am ready to celebrate with you!
How did you become involved in your work as a coach and personal trainer?
Movement has always been a huge part of my life! I started gymnastics at the age of 2 and practiced and competed into my teens. From there I competed in many sports: cross-country skiing, track, swimming, and weightlifting. All the sports I participated in were enjoyable, and I definitely learned a lot about myself with each experience, but nothing ever spoke to me as gymnastics did.
In my adult years, I returned to my roots as a gymnast, just for fun! Through the process of journeying back, I felt the return play, enjoyment, and strength in both my movement and mindset. Also, during this time I became a parent and created a movement practice around the prenatal and postpartum time periods. This personal journey, coupled with the experience of my clients keeps me passionate about movement! I believe that we are all strong in our own ways, and that we can discover or rediscover this joy at any time in our lives!
